Description:

The TDAA Department Assistant provides essential administrative, operational, and customer-facing support to the SUU Department of Theatre, Dance, and Arts Administration. This role assists the Administrative Assistant, Department Chair, faculty, and production teams in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and successful executing of departmental events and productions. The ideal candidate is an organized, dependable self-starter who possesses a passion for the performing arts and thrives in a creative, fast-paced academic environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a friendly, helpful atmosphere for students and visitors.
  • Answer the telephone.
  • Deliver on campus paperwork, cash handling, answer questions.
  • Conduct prospective student tours of Theatre and Dance facilities as well as helping with projects within the department including specific duties related to recruitment for High School Shakespeare Competition, the annual TDAA Scholarship and Placement Day, and Day of Dance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Hours scheduled each semester with consideration of the student's class schedule.

Qualifications:

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • First consideration to a Theatre or Dance Major or Minor.
  • Sophomore or Junior status with basic understanding of the Department preferred.
  • Basic office skills and good organization skills also preferred.
  • Cooperative attitude and willingness to dress appropriately for the office.
